Our school has many special programs that enrich student learning. Unfortunately, the FWISD is unable to fund these programs, so the PTA provides vital support for many of the things that take place at Alice Carlson. The PTA always needs to hear your voice if you have any ideas that might help in any area but especially in areas of parent involvement and fundraising. Please feel free, at any time, to speak to a PTA member in the hall, by phone or email, or leave a note in the PTA mailbox in the main office.

How Do Alice Carlson Design Teams Work?
Function
Design teams work in conjunction with the PTA and its board to accomplish the year’s goals. Each Design Team has an area it emcompasses: Fundraising; Volunteer Resources; Instructional Support; and Communications. Design Teams are an integral way for parents to provide input.
Meetings
Design Team meetings happen five times a year following the general PTA meeting. The meeting begins with a short session covering anything needing parent input and for each Design Team chair to share what the teams are doing. The group then splits into design teams for a team meeting followed by committee meeting time if needed.
Committees
Parents can choose a team that interests them and participate. Committees are divided between teams. Committee Chairs work with Design Team Chairs to develop a budget and communicate what’s going on with the committee. Teams look at current committees and determine any further needs that they see. New committees may be added and committees no longer necessary will be phased out.
